Akron police are investigating the death of an unidentified man found in a tent behind a vacant house in the Sherbondy Hill neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Officers responded to a report of a fight in the 800 block of Oberlin Street at around 5:25 a.m. and, while searching the area, they discovered the man’s body.
Authorities stated that the victim showed signs of trauma, leading investigators to treat the case as suspicious. A medical examiner was called to the scene and efforts are underway to identify the deceased. Litchfield and Firestone Community Learning Centers (CLCs) were closed on Tuesday after natural gas odors were detected in both schools, according to a statement on the Akron Public Schools website. Four Summit County Men Arrested in Ohio Human Trafficking Sting
A major statewide human trafficking sting led to the arrest of four men from Summit County, as part of a larger operation involving over 100 law enforcement agencies. The operation, announced by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost on Monday, resulted in the arrest of 132 individuals, including three men from Akron and one from Richfield.
The arrested individuals, aged 36, 49, 53, and 57, face charges related to engaging in prostitution and solicitation. The operation, dubbed END-OHHT, identified over 70 survivors of human trafficking, who were referred to healthcare and social services for support.

Robbers Steal ATM Using Forklift in North Canton Bank Heist
In an unusual early-morning heist, robbers in North Canton used a stolen forklift to steal an ATM from the Fifth Third Bank on North Main Street on Tuesday. The forklift had been taken from a nearby Wendy’s construction site, and the ATM was removed from the bank shortly after 4 a.m., police reported.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the forklift abandoned behind the bank, along with debris from the ATM. Police are continuing to investigate the theft, and Fifth Third Bank has not yet commented on the incident.
