Strive has increased its bitcoin holdings to 25,000 BTC after buying a further 469 bitcoin for $36.6m last week.
The purchase takes the value of the company’s bitcoin treasury to about $1.95bn at current prices. Strive paid an average of just under $78,000 for each bitcoin, according to a Form 8-K filing released on Monday.
Chief executive Matt Cole said all the capital raised by Strive during the week came from sales of SATA, the company’s perpetual preferred stock. The notional value of SATA outstanding has recently passed $1bn.
Strive also raised its “amplification ratio” to 53.5%. The company defines the measure as “the ratio of notional preferred equity outstanding and debt to BTC NAV”.
In practical terms, Strive has about $53.50 in preferred stock obligations and debt for every $100 of bitcoin it holds.
The latest purchase was significantly smaller than the previous week’s acquisition, when Strive added 1,375 BTC at a cost of about $109m.
Strive is currently the world’s fifth-largest public bitcoin holder, behind Strategy, Twenty One, Metaplanet and MARA. Cole has said the company could potentially move into second place by the end of the year, although he described that outcome as not his “base case” expectation.
To overtake Twenty One, Strive would need to buy another 18,515 BTC, assuming the Tether-backed company leaves its current holdings unchanged at 43,514 BTC.
With 15 full weeks remaining in 2026, Strive would need to acquire an average of about 1,234 BTC per week to close that gap.
Shares in Strive’s common stock, ASST, rose by more than 4% during the first hours of trading on Monday, reaching a year-to-date high of just under $29.
The rise came as bitcoin traded close to $78,000 after a volatile session on Friday. The cryptocurrency climbed from about $76,000 to nearly $80,000 before falling back towards $77,000 within seven hours. Trading over the weekend was somewhat calmer.
Strategy, the largest corporate bitcoin holder, reported no change to its holdings for a second successive week. It continues to hold 845,050 BTC.
Instead, Strategy spent $139.3m buying back STRC preferred shares, using cash held in US dollars.
