NEAR has partnered with Ondo Finance to give eligible users access to 20 tokenised US stocks, exchange-traded funds and commodity-linked products through near.com and NEAR Intents.
The initial selection includes Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, the Invesco QQQ Trust, the iShares Silver Trust and the iShares Gold Trust. QQQ tracks the Nasdaq-100, while SLV and IAU provide exposure to silver and gold.
Users can fund purchases with supported crypto assets already held in their near.com accounts, including Bitcoin and USDC. They can then keep the tokenised products or exchange them back into USDC or another supported asset without opening a separate brokerage account.
Access depends on location and eligibility requirements. U.S. persons cannot use Ondo Stocks under the product’s current securities restrictions. Users in jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Singapore may also need to qualify as professional clients or investors.
“Bringing financial markets onchain should give people more control over their money and more choice in how they transact,” said Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs, the developer behind NEAR Intents.
The service will also be available through wallets, decentralised finance protocols and applications connected to NEAR Intents, although individual platforms may impose their own compliance procedures.
Cross-chain access
NEAR Intents allows users to request an outcome without manually selecting bridges or transaction routes. Independent solvers compete to complete each transaction across more than 30 connected blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEAR, Tron and BNB Chain.
That means a user can request a tokenised security while holding crypto on a different supported network. Ondo said the integration is designed to let investors access securities from the accounts and networks where they already hold capital.
“Our goal is simple: investors should be able to reach these assets from the networks and accounts where they already hold their capital,” said Armand Khatri, head of ecosystem at Ondo Finance.
The launch uses NEAR’s standard cross-chain distribution system and does not state that Ondo Stocks purchases will benefit from Confidential Intents. NEAR’s private version routes transactions through a private shard, keeping them away from public mempools and potentially reducing exposure to front-running, strategy leaks and certain forms of maximal extractable value.
In September, Confidential Intents passed $70m in confidential total value locked, triggering the first snapshot for an incentive programme.
Ondo expands tokenised securities network
Ondo says its securities platform, already deployed on Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain, holds more than $1bn in total value locked and has processed over $26bn in cumulative trading volume.
In June, Ondo connected 35 assets to Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM using LayerZero infrastructure. The products included tokens linked to SPY, QQQ, Nvidia, Tesla, Alphabet, Netflix and Alibaba. Another LayerZero-based service had enabled more than 100 tokenised stocks and ETFs to move between Ethereum and BNB Chain.
Ondo has also asked the SEC to permit registered on-chain securities distribution through Ethereum and other public blockchains.
Its current US restrictions reflect disclosures stating that Ondo Stocks are not registered under the Securities Act of 1933 and cannot be offered or sold in the United States or to U.S. persons unless registered or exempt.
The SEC’s separate five-year pathway for tokenised National Market System stocks requires approved products to retain the economic, voting, dividend and liquidation rights of conventional shares. Trading venues must halt a tokenised security when the underlying stock is halted, while limits apply to supported symbols and trading volume.
Ondo’s US-registered broker-dealer subsidiary, Oasis Pro Markets, has received FINRA authorisations relating to tokenised equities and funds. It is registered with the SEC as a broker-dealer and alternative trading system, while Oasis Pro TA is a registered transfer agent.
Oasis Pro Markets has also joined DTCC’s Fund/SERV network for order processing, settlement and recordkeeping, linking it with mutual fund providers, wealth platforms and other financial firms.
