Three issuers raised more than $100 million through tokenised corporate bonds during India’s SEBI Demat 2.0 pilot.
The transactions were settled using a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC), marking the pilot’s first reported issuance activity.
The SEBI Demat 2.0 pilot is focused on the use of tokenisation in India’s corporate bond market. In the trial, the bonds issued by the three companies were represented digitally, while settlement took place through wholesale CBDC infrastructure.
