Bitcoin is on course to record its first consecutive monthly gains from July through September since 2012, after rising 10% in September.
The cryptocurrency’s latest advance would complete a rare three-month winning streak, marking the first time it has achieved the feat in 13 years.
The previous run in 2012 was followed by a 9.7% fall in October. Bitcoin then began a much larger rally, climbing by more than 2,000% from that month’s low.
