A person from Maryland has been apprehended on a cost of stealing $990 from a girl in Plainfield by falsely claiming he had a pet on the market.
About 10:20 a.m. on Monday, Romeo Jumbam, 35, of the 9800 block of Good Luck Street, Lanham, Maryland, was booked into the Will County jail on prices of theft by deception and wire fraud.
The fees filed Dec.29, accused Jumbam of telling a girl that he was the proprietor of enterprise known as Shiba Inus World and that he had a pet on the market.
A Shiba Inu is a Japanese searching canine.
Jumbam allegedly induced the girl into making a $990 Zelle switch to his electronic mail account, although he “knew that no such pet existed,” in keeping with the felony grievance.
Zelle is a digital cost service that enables customers to switch cash from their checking account to a different consumer’s checking account.
The fees had been a results of a Plainfield Police Division investigation.
Following the investigation, Choose Donald DeWilkins signed a warrant on Dec. 29 for Jumbam’s arrest that carried a $25,000 bond.
On Monday, Jumbam was arraigned and he pleaded not responsible to the fees.
Choose Dave Carlson signed an order to permit Jumbam to be processed on the Will County jail after which launched on a $10,000 recognizance bond, in keeping with court docket information.
Carlson additionally assigned Jumbam’s case to Choose Vincent Cornelius.
Carlson modified Jumbam’s bond to permit him to reside in Maryland through the course of the case.
