MAGNE.AI has completed an additional US$2.64m strategic funding round to accelerate the development of its edge AI hardware, blockchain infrastructure and programmable payment services for autonomous agents.
The round was backed by GAEA Ventures, Titans Ventures and Go2Mars Labs, with the announcement made in Road Town, British Virgin Islands, on 5 August 2026.
The latest investment follows MAGNE.AI’s previously announced US$10m strategic financing, taking the company’s total publicly disclosed funding to US$12.64m.
MAGNE.AI said the new capital would support engineering validation and commercial delivery of MAGNE AI BOX, deeper integration with MAGNE L1 and MHash L2, and continued development of MAGNE Agent Pay. The payment infrastructure is being designed to enable x402-compatible transactions between AI agents, applications and digital services.
The company is developing a technology stack that combines edge intelligence, secure hardware, blockchain-based identity and programmable payments. Its stated aim is to move beyond its origins as a Web3-native AI smartphone platform and provide infrastructure for personal, enterprise and developer applications.
Focus on local AI processing
MAGNE.AI said rising use of generative AI is increasing demand for private, low-latency computing that can be controlled locally. Many existing AI services depend on centralised cloud infrastructure, which can create concerns around data privacy, response times, operating costs, service availability and control of sensitive information.
Autonomous AI agents also require systems that can verify identity, access services, follow instructions and make payments without depending entirely on centralised intermediaries.
A major part of the new funding will be directed towards MAGNE AI BOX, described as a private edge AI computing device. It is intended to allow individuals and organisations to run AI workloads locally rather than transferring all data and processing requirements to external cloud providers.
The platform is being developed for users who need greater privacy, lower latency and stronger control over proprietary data and AI workloads. Its applications are expected to include local model inference, private retrieval-augmented generation, multimodal processing and private execution of AI agents.
Blockchain integration and agent payments
The financing will also support closer integration between MAGNE AI BOX, MAGNE L1 and MHash L2.
MAGNE L1 is designed to provide a foundation for device identity, digital ownership, authorisation and infrastructure-level records. MHash L2 is intended to handle more frequent and lower-cost activity, including AI-agent calls, service coordination, task execution, micropayments and settlement.
MAGNE.AI said the two-layer structure would allow devices and agents to interact through verifiable identities and programmable permissions, while keeping high-frequency activity efficient and scalable.
In a potential use case, an AI agent operating locally on MAGNE AI BOX could verify its authorisation, request an external service, complete a task and settle the related payment through an on-chain process.
The company is also expanding MAGNE Agent Pay, its programmable payment and settlement system for autonomous software. As agents become capable of finding services, accessing data, coordinating workflows and carrying out transactions, MAGNE.AI said they would need payment infrastructure that operates with limited human intervention while preserving authorisation and accountability.
MAGNE Agent Pay is being developed to connect identity, permission, service access and settlement within a single system, including support for agent-to-agent and machine-to-machine economic activity.
From smartphone platform to wider infrastructure
MAGNE.AI initially built its platform around a Web3-native AI smartphone combining on-device intelligence, hardware-level security and direct access to decentralised infrastructure.
The smartphone architecture includes secure execution environments, dedicated secure elements, local AI processing and native connectivity to the MAGNE blockchain ecosystem.
MAGNE AI BOX is intended to extend that model beyond smartphones by offering more local computing capacity for private models, enterprise knowledge bases, multimodal applications and autonomous agents. MAGNE.AI said the smartphone would remain a secure personal interface, while MAGNE AI BOX would target broader personal and enterprise workloads.
The company believes this approach can address several challenges associated with cloud-based AI, including the need to upload sensitive documents and business information to third-party infrastructure. Local processing may also reduce the impact of network latency, service interruptions and regional access restrictions.
MAGNE L1 is intended to provide identity and authorisation links between users, devices and AI agents, while MHash L2 is designed to support frequent calls, service requests and micropayments that may be less suitable for expensive or congested base-layer execution.
Investment and development plans
Following the funding round, MAGNE.AI said its priorities would include product engineering and delivery, integration across its hardware and blockchain systems, development of MAGNE Agent Pay, ecosystem growth and international market expansion.
