Jacques Audiard’s musical Emilia Pérez, chronicling the journey of a Mexican drug lord who undergoes gender-affirming surgery, leads the nominations with ten nods. Close behind are Wicked, Conclave, and The Brutalist.
The television category is dominated by The Bear, with five nominations. Meanwhile, The Apprentice, a portrayal of Donald Trump’s early years, garnered attention for its leads, Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong.
With his 11th Golden Globe nomination, Denzel Washington continues to break records as the most-nominated Black performer in the awards’ history. Among the 26 first-time nominees are Ariana Grande, Dakota Fanning, Seth Meyers, and Pamela Anderson, who earned a nod for The Last Showgirl.
Honoring Excellence: Viola Davis and Ted Danson
Viola Davis will receive the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, recognizing her storied career. Davis has captivated audiences in films like Fences, The Woman King, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, as well as her iconic role in the series How to Get Away with Murder.
